Many of you have been waiting a long, long time for this, and it's finally here- the new Flipsider!!! Thanks to everyone for being patient and not giving up hope and support for the cause. The site took a lot of work, so I hope everyone appreciates it. Now let's get you up to speed with what's new and what to expect in the future.
Sections Explained- News: the news section is meant to be a blog for the whole sport. Users who want to share news that's relevant to the whole community can post their news on Flipsider, including any relevant pictures or other media.
- Tricks: this is probably what you'll find most impressive and useful about the new Flipsider. I have published hundreds of new trick videos, and added an interactive trick tips (commenting) system. The way it works is each trick is its own "album" which may contain multiple videos inside, of different players or encodings for example. When you want to add your tips to a move, click the 'Add Comment' icon under the appropriate *album*. As a last minute change, sorry the Foundation and Advanced sections are closed. We'll get that up asap.
- Know: spreading knowledge one brain at a time... Though I've written many new articles and updated most of the old ones, there is much room for improvement. Feel free to make a vid/pictorial, write an article of valuable knowledge or share your general advice. One area that would be great to see expanded is the Player Profiles. You could interview one of your favorite players, edit a video or photo montage of him or her, or anything else that comes to mind. I've made it so easy to contribute new content that no one has an excuse anymore!
- Media: from the foundation of top notch videos you've come to expect at Flipsider, we're turning it up a notch by enabling user-contributions. The new Members Area allows users to upload media for incorporation into any area of the site. Add pics to your News items, supply new Trick videos, add vids/pics to Know articles, or anything else you can think of!
- Shop: this is a big shift from the past. Since Flipsider is now meant to grow as a non-profit company, I decided to open the door for all users to sell their gear through the site. It's part of the participatory goals of Flipsider.
Furthermore, each section is RSS-enabled, so you can stay informed from the convenience of your news reader. See the RSS Feeds page for a list of active feeds.CreditsNow, to give credit where credit is due, I want to thank nobody for helping me with this. My programmer (Kobus, the wretched puke) stopped returning my emails many months ago, leaving the project incomplete, and I was forced to make a tough decision. Either find a new programmer to take over where Kobus left off, which I tried and found no one, or start over from scratch and do it all by myself. Time and time again, the latter has prevailed, and here we are countless hours later. So now it's done, but it's just the beginning, and I hope there will be many people interested, nay inspired, nay compelled to carry the flame and personally take initiative to make something great out of Flipsider. Now HiringAll positions are on a voluntary basis of course, but I hope that won't keep you from joining the team.- Authors: all registered users have Author status by default for ease of contribution, but we need a few people who can be a bit more dedicated to regular involvement. You must be able to write at a college level or better and enjoy keeping tabs on developments in the footbag world. Your job is to keep your ear to the ground and let the rest of us know when something newsworthy is happening.
- Editors: a few people with strong writing skills are needed to manage incoming submissions, and moderate the forums (comments and trick tips). No one person will have to do everything. It will be a shared, cooperative effort.
