20 Questions

From some time in 2003...

1. Biggest personal victory?
Flipsider of course.

2. Other sports?
Footbag is the only sport I play, but I enjoy many sports as a spectator, especially skateboarding, chinlone and women's tennis.

3. Favorite music?
East Coast Rap, but I also listen to a lot of indie rock and classical (as in the symphony).

4. Favorite food?
I've been vegetarian since 1996 so I'll eat pretty much anything that tastes good and doesn't have dead animal in it.

5. Favorite subject in school?
Photography and film studies.

6. Least favorite subject in school?
In retrospect, everything is worth learning.

7. Top 5 movies?
In no particular order, "The Big Lebowski", "The Machinist", "Citizen Kane", "Crash", and... can't think of a fifth.

8. Favorite director?
Fernando Mereilles (City of God).

9. Biggest influence in life?
My wife of course. Anyone who is, knows.

10. Ideal vacation spot?
Utah's canyon country.

11. How do you relax?
Focus on the breath.

12. Late sleeper or early riser?
I'm usually an early riser, because I'm more productive that way, though sometimes I get into the late night rhythm.

13. Nature lover or city slicker?
A bit of each really.

14. What do you do for fun?
Shredding of course, and I like shooting urban photography, capturing depth in average surroundings that most people never notice.

15. Worst injury?
I dislocated my ankle skateboarding in 2001, which somehow caused tendonitis in my knee about 6 months later. That was my worst year in footbag. Well, actually I had back problems in from late 1998-2000, so that sucked, too.

16. Biggest tricks you have hit?
Blurry Fender (invented), Colossus (invented, both sides), Gyro Shaft (invented, both sides), Gyro Smp Barrage (invented), Montage (invented, both sides), Morpheus (invented), Nuclear Torque (invented).

17. Biggest tricks you want to hit?
Gyro Smp Baroque and Gyro Diving Shaft, but I get ridiculous ideas all the time.

18. Who inspires you?
In the circle, Big Add Chad, Vasek Klouda and Peter Irish.

19. Personal Thanks?
Mom, Dad and TK, Caro, Chad Devich, Kyle Crawford, Ken Shults, Tsunami, Yax, Rippin', Europe, Canada and the supporters of Flipsider.

20. Advice for newbies?
Even if you have a long way to go, there's plenty of room for having fun. Just keep trying new things, and enjoy every little victory.

*Trick clarifications: Blurry Fender = stepping far floating blender, Colossus = gyro diving smp whirl, Montage = spinning ducking ps whirl, Morpheus = spinning ducking pdx drifter.

Title: Experience?
I'm a little confused. What do you mean by experience? I figured that it should be how long you've been playing, but I know you've been playing for longer than THIS COMING SUMMER! What's up?

Title: BAP
You went from n00b to BAP in 2 years? How many hours per week did you play during those 2 years?

blitz says on Wednesday, 18 April 2007
Title: yes 2 yrs
making bap in 2 years was not all that unusual in those days, though nowadays it's probably 3 years on average, so not a big change. as for hours per week, hard to say, maybe 8-10.

Title: great music!
Hi Eliot,
I saw the film you did for Peter Irish with some great music. Can you tell me the name of the performer perhaps? thanks!

Title: _
Hey Eliot,

It's Joshua, the guy who did the song 'R is for Resistance' under the name War Machine for your Undefeated video. I see that your video (and our song, I'm assuming) was used in the Trivial Pursuit DVD... GREAT! Is it possible for me to get a copy?!
